In the 1790 U.S. Census of Pawling, Dutchess Co., New York, with 2 free white males under 16, 3 free white males over 16, 4 free white females, 1 other person, and 1 slave, totaling 11 members of the household. In the 1790 census of Dutchess Co., NY. He had become a Lieutenanat and settled in Cornwall, Canada, during the Revolution. FFA Chart #11.
á Jeremiah French, b. ca. 1764 in Ripton Parish, Huntington, Fairfield Co., CT, d. 11 Feb 1835 in Williston, Chittenden Co., VT. Jeremiah French was in the 1790 U.S. Census of Burlington, Chittenden Co., Vermont, with 3 free white males over 16 and 2 free white females. Jeremiah French settled quite early (about 1784 after the Revolution) in that part of Burlington, Vermont, east of Muddy Run, which was subsequently annexed to Williston. In 1791 the population of Burlington was 332. FFA Chart #11.

His ancestor was Aaron French who was b. 1 Mar 1767 in NJ and died 1 Jan 1851 at Sheshequin township, Bradford Co., PA. Jeremiah m. Charlotte VanGorder, also a surname of Chart #179. They had 7 children: Mary, Marion, Martha, May, Myra, Minnie, and Harry. Aaron is also listed in ÒPioneer and Patriot Families of Bradford County PAÓ Volume 2. Moses French is the head of this family, born probably in the mid 1700s in Sussex Co., NJ.

á Jeremiah French, b. 13 Oct 1761 at St. AndrewÕs Episcopal Church, Leonard, St. MaryÕs, MD. He was a Private and given 50 acres of land west of Fort Cumberland in Maryland in the Revolutionary War Bounty Land Grants in Nov 1781 for veterans of the Revolutionary War, which encompassed present day Allegany and Garrett counties. Jeremiah was the bondsman for the marriage of Polly French (probably his daughter) and John Tharpe on 26 Nov 1794. He was the son of William French and Rinah Davis. William FrenchÕs siblings were Rodolph French, b. 1755, and Susannah French, b. 1766, d. 1850. More research needs to be completed on these two lines to see if they are connected.

á Jeremiah French, b. ca. 1772 in Halifax Co., VA, is listed on the U.S. Census of Rockingham, NC in 1820, 1830, and 1840. He m. Pendenel, and d. 19 Jan 1844 in Oregonville, Rockingham Co., NC. His son may have been John French, b. 1800 in VA, and m. Moriah A. Taylor on 28 Jul 1827 in Rockingham, NC. This John French d. 1885 in Johnson Co., TX.

á Jeremiah French, b. Feb 1838 in Chemung or Cayuga Co., NY. His father was Samuel French, b. ca. 1793 in Boston, MA, and his mother was Frances Scott, b. ca. 1801 in Ireland. The family moved to Genoa, Tioga or Cayuga Co., NY. They moved to Chemung Co., NY, in 1855, and also to Wells township, Bradford Co., PA.

á Robert Timothy FrenchÕs family was of Somerset Co., NJ and of the same timeframe as Jeremiah French, FFA Chart #183, of the FrenchÕs Mustard fame. He then moved to Elmira, NY, and then Rochester, NY. Robert French was b. 24 Apr 1766 in New Brunswick, Middlesex Co., NJ. He d. 4 Aug 1862 and is buried at the Breesport Baptist Cemetery in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. No Jeremiah or Moses appear in this line as of yet.
