has written about 200 pages on the William
Elbourn Family in England.
The
gravestones of at least 10 Fitzjohns and 4 Thurgoods are inside the church and are in fairly good
shape. I found no Elborn.
Sarah Elborn married William Thurgood as her second husband. Her
first husband was William Elborn who died the year
before she married Thurgood. I took a photo of her gravestone. The stones
outside the church are very hard to read, but because these families were
buried indoors ca. 1780 and before, they must have been dedicated members of
the church as hardly any other surname is inside.
The
Hertfordshire Record Office has all the gravestones typed up, so I xeroxed those of the Fitzjohn and
Thurgood families and looked thru all the others and no Elbourn.
I copied about 15 pages relevant to the Elborns; the
name is most often spelled Elborn, and in Cambridgeshire it is Elbourn. The
Elborns that I found were all labourers,
not even farmers which is a higher rank. They didn't even
have trades.
William Elbourn was christened in 1705.
Mathew ÒEllbournÓ was
christened in 1716.
